Presentation

Wood fell on this morning on the right ankle. On exam: tenderness and mild swelling anterolateral aspect of right ankle and multiple superficial abrasions on both legs.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  •  An avulsed fracture at the anterolateral aspect of the right distal tibia is seen. 
  •  No lytic or sclerotic lesion is seen. 
  •  Mild cavus foot is seen.  
  •  Soft tissue shadows appear mildly swollen.

Measurement of the calcaneal pitch is 33° indicating mild cavus foot

Case Discussion

Measurement of the calcaneal pitch 18 to 20° is normal

Although measurements ranging from 17 to 32° have been reported to be normal.
