Distal tibiofibular synchondrosis

Ankle pain for several months.

Patient Data

Age: 11
Gender: Male

Tibial exostosis indenting the distal fibula and forming a synchondrotic junction instead of the normal syndesmosis. Secondary osteoarthitis with bone marrow oedema.

Case Discussion

This condition is supposed to arise from one or more osteochondromas at the level of the syndesmosis, similar to tibiofibular synostosis.
