Fluid-filled structures arising from the wall of the anus and extending posteriorly between the internal and external sphincters. No associated fistula, surrounding inflammation nor clinical signs of sepsis. No distended veins to indicate hemorrhoids. There is debate about whether such glands exist in the human (as compared with the dog for example).
