Lower abdominal pain and altered bowel habit

Multiple small contrast filled outpouchings are seen arising from sigmoid and descending colons representing diverticula.

Case Discussion

Presence of multiple diverticula within the bowel is termed diverticulosis whereas inflammation of the diverticula is termed diverticulitis. Diverticular disease is the overarching term for all pathology related to the presence of diverticula in the bowel, usually the colon.
