Presentation
Incidental finding on CT
Patient Data
Right sided aortic arch.
Right-sided aortic arch and aberrant left subclavian artery with a bulbous origin representing a diverticulum of Kommerell. This measures 23 mm transverse diameter and produces a mild mass effect on the esophagus, which is not significantly changed from the prior exam.
Mild atherosclerotic disease of the left subclavian artery. Separate origins of the right subclavian and right common carotid. No significant luminal stenosis of the aortic branches.
The thoracic aorta is tortuous, although normal in caliber.
Case Discussion
This patient is undergoing a serial CT for surveillance. A diameter of 30 mm is a suggested threshold for surgical repair.
