On double contrast barium enema, elongation of the colon is present accompanied by slightly dilatation of the affected segment. Sigmoid colon is redundant and relatively ptosis of the transvers colon is observed.
Case Discussion
Features on barium study are compatible with dolichocolon, which refers to the elongation of the colon, usually involves one segment causing flexures, loops, and kinks in the colon's lumen and could result in chronic constipation. Dilatation of the affected segment may accompany this.
