Presentation

Work up for chronic constipation.

Patient Data

Age: 18 years
Gender: Female
Fluoroscopy

Elongation of the colon is present, accompanied by a redundant sigmoid colon and transverse colon ptosis. No pathologic filling defect or outpouching is observed. 

Case Discussion

Dolichocolon is an elongation of the colon, usually resulting in flexures, loops, and kinks in the lumen of the gut causing chronic constipation. Redundant sigmoid colon, transverse colon ptosis, and dilatation of the affected segment may accompany this.
