Elongation of the colon is present particularly involving the descending and sigmoid portions.
There are also several small outpouchings, particularly in the distal colon, inferring diverticula.

Dolichocolon is an elongation of the colon, most often involving one segment, usually the descending and sigmoid, resulting in flexures, loops, and kinks in the lumen of the gut. This may be accompanied by dilatation of the affected segment.
