Doppler confirms the size of this artery and its position relative to the lesion that is for biopsy.

Case Discussion

Doppler scrutiny of a lesion pre-biopsy under ultrasound guidance is always wise. It does not take very long and may prevent a large hematoma or hemorrhage. In this case, you will approach the lesion from a distance and fire your gun parallel to the skin. Doppler also gives you an indication of how vascular the lesion itself is.
