Presentation

Difficulties swallowing. Known liver cirrhosis with portal hypertension.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Double aortic arch with codominant subtype. The right common carotid and subclavian arteries originate from the right aortic arch and the left common carotid and subclavian arteries from the left aortic arch. It forms a vascular ring surrounding the trachea and esophagus, compressing mainly the oesophagal lumen. The double aortic arch unites posteriorly and forms the descending aorta.

Both lungs are clear (lung window not shown).

Bilateral elastofibroma dorsi (incidental finding).
