Double duct sign - carcinoma of the head of the pancreas

Presentation

Right upper quadrant pain and jaundice.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years old
Gender: Female

Simultaneous dilatation of the common bile and pancreatic ducts due to mass of the head of the pancreas.

Case Discussion

The CT study shows a double duct sign : simultaneous dilatation of the common bile and pancreatic ducts.

Carcinoma of the head of the pancreas and ampullary tumours are the most common causes of the double duct sign.
