Another illustration to show the segmental distribution of DCIS in the right breast.

Remember the distribution of the calcifications underestimates the extent of disease. The calcifications show the disease but not the margins of the tumor.

Before screening these were the cancers we missed. DCIS makes up probably 30% of the cancers we find in large screening series. The same percentage that screening reduces the mortality of breast carcinoma by.... coincidence?
