Presentation
Born at 33 weeks. Low birth weight. Abdominal distension.
Patient Data
Classical double bubble appearance visualized. The larger proximal bubble is air in the stomach. The comparatively smaller bubble is the air in the proximal duodenum. Distal to this point, no air is seen.
Ryles tube in-situ in the dilated stomach shadow.
Chest region shows reticulonodular opacities consistent with respiratory distress.
Trans-anastomotic tube is seen. No complicating features.

The bilateral lung fields demonstrate persistent reticulonodular opacities.
Surgical details
The patient was taken for explorative laparotomy and there was a thick duodenal web with resultant dilatation of duodenum up to its second segment. Web excision and a duodeno-duodenostomy was performed. There was no evidence of distal atresia or malrotation.
Trans-anastomotic tube insitu. No complicating features.

The bowel gas shows normal pattern.
No late post-operative complications identified.
