Duodenal atresia (congenital)

Diagnosis almost certain

Patient Data

Age: Neonate
x-ray

The tip of the nasogastric tube is projected over the stomach. The stomach and duodenal cap are distended with air. No bowel gas is visualized past the duodenal cap. No evidence of free intraperitoneal air on this supine projection. No abnormal intra-abdominal calcifications. The osseous structures and visualized lung bases are unremarkable.
