Case Discussion

Diverticula can occur anywhere along the GI tract and become inflamed. Duodenal diverticula are a common finding on CT, but diverticulitis is uncommon. In this case, inspissated material fills the inflamed diverticulum and likely caused erosion of the diverticular wall, resulting in diverticulitis.
