Presentation
Incidental finding in lymphoma
Patient Data
A contrast-enhanced axial CT scan shows a well-defined crescentic mass with homogeneous enhancement in the posterolateral wall of the second part of the duodenum (first yellow circle), with similar appearances to the pancreas proper.
There is also a santorinicele (second yellow circle)
Case Discussion
The heterotopic pancreas is ectopic pancreatic tissue devoid of anatomical and vascular continuity with the pancreas. It is usually found in the gastric antrum and duodenum. It is usually asymptomatic but may be complicated by pancreatitis, pseudocyst, intussusception, obstruction and gastrointestinal bleeding.
