Duodenal lipoma with intussusception

Presentation

Abdominal pain and melena.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

4 cm duodenal lipoma acting as a lead point for intussusception. A smaller one is seen distally within a loop of small bowel.

Lipoma was surgically resected.

Case Discussion

Gastrointestinal lipomas are uncommon benign tumors rarely localized in the duodenum. They are usually asymptomatic but can present acutely with gastrointestinal bleeding, intussusception, and intestinal obstruction.
