Presentation

Urinary abnormality had been found during pregnancy on an antenatal ultrasound examination.

Patient Data

Age: 10 months
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Ultrasound examination shows a double pyelum in the left kidney, with mild dilatation.

Fluoroscopy

Grade 5 reflux with a double excretory system on the left side. Fusion of both ureters just proximal to the bladder (cystoscopy confirmed the presence of only two ostia in the bladder). Hydronephrosis.

Case Discussion

MCU clearly shows a double excretory system with high grade vesicoureteral reflux and hydronephrosis (grade 5 reflux).

Grade 5 – gross dilatation of the ureter, pelvis and calyces; ureteral tortuosity; loss of papillary impressions.
