Presentation

Left-hand palmar nodules for the last few months. Nodules aligned to the ring and middle fingers.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There are two adjacent nodules superficial to 4th finger flexor tendons. They show continuity with palmar aponeurosis. The nodules are hypoechoic without calcification/cystic changes/vascularity.  The proximal nodule measures about 8 x 7 x 3 mm. The distal nodule measures about 4 x 3 x 1.5 mm. The underlying flexor tendons show free movements.

There is a bilobed nodule superficial to the 3rd finger flexor tendons and shows continuity with palmar aponeurosis. It is hypoechoic without calcification/cystic changes/vascularity. It measures about 9 x 5 x 3 mm. The underlying flexor tendons show free movements.

Case Discussion

Elderly male presented with palmar nodules for the last few months. The clinical examination revealed palpable nodules aligned to the 3rd and 4th rays. There was overlying skin puckering. Flexor tendons showed free movement. He was referred with a clinical diagnosis of Dupuytren's contracture

The ultrasound shows the typical appearance of Dupuytren's contracture.
