Patient Data
Thrombosis of the right internal jugular vein, and sigmoid, transverse, and superior sagittal sinuses; the thrombosis demonstrates marked diffusion restriction.
There are diffuse supratentorial dural thickening and pachymeningeal enhancement.
No infarct or hemorrhage.
Case Discussion
Extensive dural venous sinus thrombosis. Marked diffusion restriction involving the thrombosed dural venous sinuses. No complicating hemorrhage or infarct.
There is marked diffuse bilateral cerebral convexity dural thickening and dural (pachymeningeal) enhancement, which is not typically seen in association with dural venous sinus thrombosis (more often seen in cases of intracranial hypotension, for example).
