Presentation

Midline swelling at the occipital region.

Patient Data

Age: 2 months
Gender: Female

MRI sequences demonstrate;

  • dysgenesis of the corpus callosum
    • agenesis of the corpus callosum involving the rostrum, posterior body, isthmus, and splenium with hypoplasia of the genu and anterior body.
    • moderate colpocephaly
    • parallel configuration of the lateral ventricles giving a "racing car" appearance on axial T2 sequence and a viking helmet or a moose head appearance on coronal T2 sequence
  • atretic occipital cephalocele
    • small subgaleal soft tissue mass at the mid-occipital region with intracranial extension through a calvarial defect
