Investigation for possible Cushing's disease.
Patient Data
Anteriorly in the right abdomen, at the level of the ascending colon and below, there is an area of semisolid and spidery infiltrate in the omental fat extending superoinferiorly for approximately 50 mm, measuring 80 mm transversely and up to 20 mm in thickness. A smaller area is seen in the corresponding position on the left. No significant finding elsewhere and, in particular, no pelvic abnormality is apparent.
The patient subsequently underwent biopsy which revealed 'Low grade serous carcinoma of the ovary presenting as omental disease'.
Case Discussion
Ovarian malignancy currently is diagnostically elusive in the early stages and commonly presents as peritoneal disease with ascites and/or omental caking.
