CT images demonstrate bilateral protrusion of the infra-orbital nerve canal into the maxillary sinus by the means of a bony septum (or mesentery), the length of the septum on the right is 9 mm and on the left 7 mm.

Abnormal protrusion of the infraorbital nerve canal into the maxillary sinus increases the risk of injury during endoscopic or open sinus surgery.
