Case contributed by James Harvey
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Newborn with antenatal diagnosis. Anorectal malformation and cleft palate and lip.

Patient Data

Age: 0
Gender: Male

There are two widely spaced digits in both hands separated by a deep cleft. Soft tissue fusion (cutaneous syndactyly) of medial two metacarpals and their distal phalanges forms the ulnar digit.

The central toes are absent bilaterally. Evidence of soft tissue fusion of lateral toes of the left foot and medial toes of the right foot with the common phalanges.  The two digits are separated by a deep cleft.

Case Discussion

Typical 'lobster claw' appearance of the hands and feet.

In this patient, with central cleft palate and lip, a clinical diagnosis of ectrodactyly-ectrodermal dysplasia-clefting syndrome was made.
