Presentation
52 years old female presented with bilateral otorrhoea. Sinus series was requested to rule out sinus disease.
Patient Data
1. Complete absence of teeth is consistent with an edentulous jaw.
2. Visualised paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear.
3. Mild to moderate mucosal hypertrophy of the inferior turbinates.
Case Discussion
Edentulous jaw in an otherwise normal skull. The prevalence of edentulism in the United States amongst adults over 60 years of age is 25%, with higher prevalences in poor populations and women. The most common causes of edentulism are dental caries and periodontal disease.
