Presentation

Palpable breast mass on physical exam.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

An oval-shaped lucent mass with thin marginal calcification in the deep central part of the right breast, better seen on CC and MLO tomosynthesis images and resembling an eggshell. (BI-RADS 2)

Case Discussion

The eggshell calcification refers to a benign peripheral rim-like calcification typically seen secondary to fat necrosis or calcification of oil cysts. No need for further evaluation or follow-up.
