Normal appearance of the great saphenous vein at mid thigh level bordered by the saphenous fascia superficially and deeply by the muscular fascia. This gives it a characteristic appearance known as the sonographic eye sign or Egyptian eye sign1.
It can be likened to the Eye of Horus, a symbol in ancient Egyptian religion 2.
Case Discussion
Egyptian eye sign or sonographic eye sign refers to the normal appearance of great saphenous vein on ultrasound, in transverse view 1.
