Embedded intrauterine contraceptive device

Presentation

Vaginal discharge.

Patient Data

Age: about 25 - 30 yrs
Gender: Female
Ultrasound

IUCD insertion - 6 mths back. USG for IUCD position.

There is an intra-uterine contraceptive device with proximal end in the endometrial canal of fundus of the uterus. The distal end of the IUCD is in embedded in the myometrium on left side. It does not pass through serosal surface of uterus. 

There is no uterine myometrial lesion.

Both ovaries are normal. There is no adnexal lesion.

Case Discussion

IUCD in endometrial canal as well as in mymetrium without serosal breach: favour embedded IUCD.
