Embolic left motor strip infarct

DWI demonstrates small embolic infarct involving left motor strip from a complicated plaque in left ICA bulb seen on T1 fat-saturated axial image as a high signal abnormality, confirmed on contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CEMRA).
Case Discussion
Diffusion-weighted imaging allows differentiation of acute stroke from other stroke mimics and will demonstrate increased DWI signal and reduced ADC values.
