Enchondroma with pathological fracture

Right hand X-ray

Right-hand X-rays demonstrate abnormality of the metaphyseal region of the third proximal phalange characterised by a non-aggressive lytic lesion expanding the local bone, with no periosteal reaction, and showing a intra-articular fracture trace. 

Case Discussion

Final Diagnosis: Left middle finger mass:  Multiple benign-appearing cartilaginous fragments, in keeping with enchondroma.  

Gross Description: The specimen is received in a single container labelled with the patient's demographics and LEFT MIDDLE FINGER ENCHONDROMA and consists of multiple tan cartilaginous tissue fragments aggregating to 2.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm.
