Intubated patient with the tip of the ETT in the right main bronchus, resulting in complete opacification of the left hemithorax. This is due predominantly due to collapse fo the whole left lung. Note the complete shift of the mediastinum to the left (heart cannot be seen).
Case Discussion
Care must be taken on all patients with lines and tubes to identify each and assess their position. Endobronchial intubation is not infrequent especially in the setting of emergency intubation or patients being moved whilst intubated.
