Endobronchial valve to treat a bronchopleural fistula

Presentation

55-year-old Caucasian male with lung cancer, History of left upper lobe poorly differentiated lung adenocarcinoma, 4 years ago. Wedge resection of (2.2 cm primary). Completed radiation concurrently with chemo 2 years later for recurrent locally advanced disease at stage IIIa (N2).

Patient Data

Age: 55
Gender: Male

The unnatural course of lung cancer and treatment.

Set of chest x rays over several weeks.

1. Port most times suggest some cancer.

2. Left upper lobe changes from radiation therapy.

3. Spontaneous broncho pleural fistula.

4. Initial treatment with chest tube.

5. Endo bronchial valve placements in 2 sessions to seal the leak.

6. Finally no leak and removal of chest tube.
