Presentation
Postmenopausal bleeding.
Patient Data
There is an ill-defined endometrial mass measuring 45 x 35 x 30 mm, invading the outer half of the myometrium with no extrauterine extension. It shows an isosignal to the endometrium on T1, high signal on T2 with restricted diffusion. The postcontrast dynamic sequence shows an early enhancement with wash-out on delayed sequences. No extension to the cervical stroma is seen. No pelvic lymphadenopathy is seen.
No distant metastasis or para-aortic seen on the CT scan (not shown).
A pedunculated subserosal leiomyoma is noted measuring 57 x 55 x 53 mm, Figo 7 (incidental finding).
Case Discussion
MRI features of an endometrial tumor invading the outer half of the myometrium with no extrauterine extension, Figo 1b, pathologically proven as endometrial adenocarcinoma.
Endometrial adenocarcinoma is considered the commonest histological subtype of endometrial cancer and accounts for up to 90% of such cases.
