Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Headache and vomiting for three months.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
mri

There is a heterogeneously enhancing solid mass lesion with some non-enhancing cystic component within the fourth ventricle extruding through the foramen of Magendie into the subarachnoid space inferiorly into the foramen magnum. Foci of dropout signal are noted in the lesion on T2* GRE images representing calcifications. Mild to moderate dilatation of the proximal ventricular system is noted.

Case Discussion

Ependymomas are more common in children than in adults. They can occur in any part of the ventricular system, but they mainly develop in the posterior fossa.
