Age: Adult

MRI Brain

Selected images from an MRI demonstrating both typical appearances and location of an epidermoid cyst. The mass extends into midline, completely encasing basilar artery. It is hyperintense on T2 weighted image and hypointense on T1 WI. The mass shows high signal on DWI. 

Case Discussion

This is a very characteristic appearance of epidermoid cysts. Note the complete encasement of the basilar artery, best seen on the T2 weighted image.
