Low back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Excessive accumulation of fat within the epidural space at L5-S1 compressing the thecal sac which is narrowed with "Y" shape configuration. 

Case Discussion

MRI features of epidural lipomatosis compressing the thecal sac at L5-S1 with "Y" shape configuration.

The epidural lipomatosis involves mainly the lower lumbar and/or lower thoracic region.  Compression of the thecal sac may be symptomatic with a combination of pain, radicular symptoms, weakness and anesthesia.
