Fat density ovoid structure adjacent to the descending colon with thin high density rim and adjacent surrounding inflammatory fat stranding. Trace amount of free fluid along the left paracolic gutter and pelvis.
Case Discussion
This is a case of epiploic appendagitis with the characteristic hyperattenuating ring sign. The patient was discharged from the ED after a saline bolus with instructions to alternate acetaminophen and ibuprofen for pain management.
