Epiploic appendagitis

Area of fat stranding with hyperdense peripheral halo is noted in theleft lower quadrant adjacent to the descending colon. No free fluid or free gas.
Case Discussion
Features are consistent with epiploic appendagitis which is the inflammation of the appendix epiploica and it is a mimic of diverticulitis. The inflamed appendage is classically located on the anterior aspect of the sigmoid or descending colon.
