CT of the abdomen & pelvis demonstrates a fat-density pericolic ovoid lesion in the left lower quadrant with thin enhancing rim and surrounding fat stranding. This lesion abuts the proximal portion of the sigmoid colon. No free gas or fluid collection around the colon.
Gallstone, right renal simple cyst, several uterine fibroids noted.
This case demonstrates the typical appearance of epiploic appendagitis, with self-limiting inflammation of appendix epiploica of the colon. No surgical treatment is usually required.
