There is an ovoid fat density with a rim of soft tissue and a central soft tissue dot in the left iliac fossa adjacent to the descending colon. There is surrounding inflammatory stranding.
The appearance is in keeping with epiploic appendagitis.
Case Discussion
Epiploic appendagitis is a benign self-limiting process involving the epiploica of the colon. It can be safely managed conservatively.
