Focal inflammatory change in pericolic fat of distal descending colon and proximal sigmoid colon with wall thickening of the colon and stranding of the antimesenteric fat is seen.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates the non-contrast CT features of epiploic appendagitis in the distal descending and proximal sigmoid colon. The CT features are usually characteristic and one of the major diagnostic signs in CT scan images of the lesion is a thin high-density rim (1-3 mm thick), known as the hyperattenuating ring sign.
