Presentation

Acute onset left lower quadrant pain.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Area of groundglass opacity in the left lower quadrant surrounding a fat density ovoid structure with a thin, high density rim. The adjacent descending colon is within normal limits.

Case Discussion

In this case, the patient presented with acute onset left lower quadrant pain. On the CT abdomen and pelvis, there were findings consistent with epiploic appendagitis. The patient was treated with ibuprofen (to act as both an analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication). The patient was discharged from the ED without any complications.
