Halo of fat stranding (hyperattenuating ring sign) containing fat with a central hyperdense dot at the antimesenteric border of the proximal sigmoid colon with adjacent fat stranding but no free fluid. Background colonic diverticulosis. No small bowel dilatation. Normal appendix.
Case Discussion
Typical CT findings of epiploic appendagitis. It is important to be able to differentiate between epiploic appendagitis and diverticulitis on imaging as the clinical presentation can be similar but the treatments differ (NSAIDs vs antibiotics).
