Epiploic appendagitis - sigmoid

Left lower quadrant and suprapubic pain. Previous appendectomy.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Sigmoid mesenteric fat stranding with a low density (fat) center and radiodense rim (hyperattenuating ring sign), superior to the bladder and to the right of the sigmoid colon. No sigmoid diverticulosis.

Case Discussion

Typical CT findings of epiploic appendagitis. The clinical differential diagnosis was diverticulitis, which there are no findings of.
