Severe joint space narrowing at the distal interphalangeal joints and to a lesser degree at the proximal interphalangeal joints associated with subchondral bone erosions, sclerosis and marginal osteophytes leading to gull-wing deformity.

The triscaphe joints show joint space narrowing, subchondral sclerosis, and subchondral erosive changes.

Case Discussion

Erosive osteoarthritis is a type of inflammatory osteoarthritis characterised by progressive involvement of the interphalangeal joints of the hands. It generally manifests in women around the time of menopause.
