Esophageal atresia

Frontal projection x-ray shows normal chest and abdominal radiographic findings including normal GI gas pattern.

- the patient was given the non-ionic contrast through unsuccessful placed NG tube
- upper part of esophagus was opacified showing significant dilatation with abrupt cut off
- no distal passage was noted
- then the given contrast was brought out to avoid aspiration
Case Discussion
The constellation of features are consistent with esophageal atresia type C (proximal esophageal atresia with distal tracheo-esophageal fistula)
