Presentation
4 months of progressive gait disturbance, apathy and dementia.
Patient Data
Diffusely bilateral symmetrical widened perivascular spaces (Virchow-Robin spaces) in the basal ganglia, especially the corpus striatum, and also in the white matter bifrontally. They exhibit CSF-signal intensity, being hyperintense on T2-weighted images and hypointense on FLAIR images, without evidence of restricted diffusion.
Case Discussion
État criblé, also known as status cribrosum, is typically seen in elderly patients and refers to widening of perivascular spaces (Virchow-Robin spaces) around cerebral arterioles in the basal ganglia.
