Presentation
Facial trauma and osteoma incidentally detected in left ethmoid sinus.
Patient Data
There is a homogeneous density benign-appearing osseous mass lesion in the left side anterior ethmoid sinus more compatible with osteoma.
Case Discussion
The case is a 35-year-old male who came to the emergency room because of facial trauma, non-contrast orbital and paranasal sinus MDCT requested, and benign osseous mass lesion in left anterior ethmoid sinus more compatible with osteoma was incidentally detected. Most of the paranasal sinus osteoma are incidentally found and the most common location is the frontal sinus in the second-order the ethmoid sinus and males are more commonly seen. The symptoms are usually due to mass effects and/or obstruction of sinus drainage. If symptomatic, the definitive treatment is surgical resection usually by functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS).
