The plain film shows swelling of the soft tissues of the foot with subtle changes to the tarsal bones.
MRI:
- T2 weighted: multiple dots of low signal within the tarsal bones
- STIR: tarsal and basal metatarsal marrow edema
- sagittal T1: multiple metatarsal bony low signal lesions
- post-contrast: ring enhancement of the lesions
Case Discussion
A known case of pathologically proven tarsal eumycetoma showing multiple abscesses with signal void fungal grains and post contrast circumferential enhancement demonstrating the dot in circle sign.
