Eumycetoma of the knee: maduromycosis

Knee swelling in patient with pathologically proven eumycetoma.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

Lytic destruction of the distal femur and patella with gross soft tissue swelling.

On MRI images, there is a heterogenous soft tissue mass associated with femoral bony infiltration. Multiple characteristic abscesses show the dot in circle sign. Enhancement of the microabscess wall is seen with the administration of contrast.

A known case of pathologically proven eumycetoma.
